School is Just Around the Corner!

I think it's safe to admit that I am terrible at keeping blog promises!

I have made a few decor/DIY updates to my place! However, tutorials are pretty unnecessary! but I'm very proud of the progress! and it will have to do for the time being! I may try to pump out one last project, the ottoman my grandpa is helping me with, and maybe later on purchasing the light fixture I want.

It's not a fancy apt, but it's slowly becoming very me! and whenever I am ready to get a real home I'll be ready to get right to the big DIY stuff!

Somehow I've latched on to a slightly southwestern look, but there are still some girly aspects and retro aspects here and there. I'm loving it!

As I said I'm most anxious to finish the big ottoman and get a hanging lamp over the couch. I'm using a small table lamp perched on the corner of the couch and leaning against the wall. It's just bad.

I'd love to be able to get a plush area rug, make a small tall table for my aloe plant, new throw pillows, a few more pieces of wall art for the living and dining and ultimately a bar cart! But I'm so proud of myself for the progress I have made, and i need to focus not only on small steps, but taking care of my plants! I've sadly killed a few here and there! and now that winter is coming I will need to pay plenty of attention so as to not be without any all winter!

In big BIG news for me, I GOT A NEW JOB! I'm going to be a Para at the grade school I grew up in! I was SO thrilled when I was offered the job on the spot! The Principal noticed in my letter and resume that I want to be a teacher so she placed me in the position she says has the most growth potential under two Master 1st Grade Teachers. AH!!!!!! Sounds awesome!!! And on top of this I begin my junior(?) year of college the same day!!! It's going to be so great getting this experience along with school! So I plan on beginning another blog to write personally about my professional adventure. It's a pitty I can't seem to figure out how to get any of these blogs truly off the ground! but I'm so thankful the outlet is available when I need it!

a quick peek

I have a LOT of plans for projects and this blog! like keeping up for once! I will do what I can with what I have!

This is a bit rough (i dont have a nice camera…yet) , but I figured I would share what I was up to with you all!

Here are some before shots of my place for reference:

I had a huge obsession with pastels! which im somewhat over. er, i use them differently anyway! i realized i needed to narrow down what colors i loved, as well as how many objects i had! i needed some minimalism and some plants!

I have been wanting to fill up the space above my chest-of-drawers. i had a shelf for my little deer in mind, but i spied this cute little metal shadow box at Hobby Lobby and got to brainstorming. I found this great set of scrapbook paper by Glitz with the perfect bright yellow color i wanted and with cute little geometric lines to boot!

So I gave it a coat of paint and cut the paper down to size and voila! a new home for my deer! still more to come for this small area. as well as others…

I'm still thinking of a new solution for a pendant light…the chandelier HAS TO GO! The couch needs toss pillows, windows needs some light curtains, and I need a big ottoman asap!

Some more art work next to/around Sir Henry. some unique prints and photographs and a piece or two of my own craftiness. im hoping to incorporate some black though to help the tv blend in a little.

The dining room is boring. I hate having the dog cage there, I'd much prefer a bar cart. and lots of art on the wall. and ive got a solution for the ugly rental lighting!

My bedroom has been the most neglected, but I was thrilled when I found my old duvet cover and this cute banner at hobby lobby. I've got plans for a bedside table (i need spring weather so badly!) I'm thinking some shams from U.O. and some homemade pillowcases.

my table of projects! a couple are done, most just need frames! yay! I've got a few inspired by the lovely ladies over at ABM of course and others I've come up with myself! super excited to share more with you all! nesting is a forever thing for me!

Here's my "Lust List" for Urban:

The small version ;) I think these curtains would really help my living room start to get the look and feel I want. The flag is for the kitchen :P

I'll post a recap of some DIY projects I've been working on as soon as they are done!

Easter Treats

Normally on a holiday I get very excited about dessert possibilities. It's a craving as much as it is a gift I want to share.

Now i know Easter has passed, but I wanted to share my adventures in Easter treat making! I had never taken a huge liking to Easter before. It just really wasn't a grand fun holiday like Halloween is to me, but as I've gotten older and "wiser" my sentimentalities have changed. It's obviously a celebration of the Resurrection of Christ, but for me its also an awakening of the Earth from slumber. (as the Pagan's probably would have it) but its something to be mindful of!

Normally I would make some sugar cookies and call it good. This year I noticed my favorite bakery was putting out so many Easter things and i found out that Easter is the chef's favorite holiday to bake for! Well that struck me funny cause i never thought of Easter as being a "favorite"!

Then I started perusing Pinterest and seeing so many cute things I could make (Natasha's are far more advanced, macarons and giant chocolate eggs...) I started putting together the idea of making treats for family and the Sunday school class I was teaching.

I will tell you I am not proud of the cake pops, but they are edible!

I did enough research to learn that I would need a special dye to color the candy coating, but I didn't know enough about the consistency of the coating. I learned you really must make very round smooth balls or the lumps will show, and that it also helps to have the candy at a certain temperature. I found several troubleshooting articles after the fact that explained the process MUCH more thoroughly!

The bunny bait was easy, very much like rice krispies, I followed the recipe fairly closely, but used different candies.

Here's everything looking adorbs!

Easter Sunday was so refreshing. It was a nice day all around! and I had so much energy and motivation the next day to get my place clean, it was just the perfect way to usher in spring! I was running around like a headless chicken, but it was a good renewing kind of energy! I may cuss a little, drink a little, I'm just a little less about hiding it, and a lot more about living the adventure that is my life.

Happy Easter and Spring everyone!

Dream Cycle

Alas, almost another month has passed since getting this going! I’m a busy gal I tell you, and a broke one at that.

So some content that is a little bit different, but it’d be a lie to hide the fact that motorcycles and math are my every-day life

I’ve been focusing on work and math. I have so many ideas for the Harley shop such as a customer survey, incentives, a newsletter, etc. So those are also things i work on in my spare time. always working! but i enjoy it because its the creative side of things to me, along with merchandising product etc. I will probably miss this job a lot when I get into my real career. It’s very laid back, but still busy busy! I just know i can do more with my talents and make more. So I’m studying real hard to get ahead!

I’ve always struggled with math. right now i have a B in College Algebra. It’s pretty much a big deal. The last test only went so-so. hoping to pull through at the end of the semester with a B, and we are done with the two hardest test so hooray!

Here in Dodge the weather will just not commit to spring! we’ve got so many cute tanks in so i am way ready for shorts and flips!

Danny and I have been working extra hard to prep for the biggest open house yet! We’ve got a 16 team BBQ competition, all the food will be served for lunch and the free will donation for the food goes to the Wounded Warriors Projects! on top of that there’s a bikini bike wash with the lovely ladies of the Dodge City Law dance team The Gunpowder Girls, live music, and all of that other fun stuff!

so we are busy bees planning all of that and getting all KINDS of fun product. i seriously love ordering and placing all the clothes! excited to help people this year since i understand the customers better and have more experience with motorcycles.

I am kind of considering taking lessons myself! however if I could ever afford one I wouldn’t have a place to keep it :( BUT where there’s a will there’s a way, and the more I stare and daydream the closer I get to taking the leap! I’d have to leave the fear of being made fun of behind!

Woman on a Breakout.

Woman on a sportster.

I just fully believe in the idea of the freedom of the road, and not being a cliche. If the average non-rider thinks of a femal biker they will probably assume the rough and tumble type, leather skin, no bras. or bimbo girls on the back of the bike. An you know, if you are the type THAT IS FINE, but I see these ads for females and I see myself in that woman more than the traditional assumption of a biker babe. The woman in the pictures above has edge, craves the open road, the muscle of the motorcycle, the effortlessly cool style. and it doesnt require me to hang my boobs out and have missing teeth. I can totally dig that.

Change the status quo if you want. Your life is your adventure.

The one i drool over at work.
